Repaired Apple ADB Mouse switch
Posted by: LaPorta on 2019-11-27 11:57:09
I just disassembled and cleaned the contacts on the original Apple ADB Mouse button switch. Man, that thing is a pain to take apart and then put back together. I'd never have known how to get it back together if there were no online resources. If your mouse doesn't click, it is possible to clean the switch!

They can be replaced also.

Indeed...I just wanted to see if I could open the thing and get the contact clean...which is all what was wrong with it.

Mechanical switches do eventually fail. I ordered some switches for Amiga mice a few years ago to fix a couple with one bad switch and they was pretty easy to swap.

We had one fail at our school back when the wedge mouse was the current model. The switch was stuck in the down position. The Mac Classic it was on wound up rejecting every single disk--until the mouse was disconnected!!
