| Dead floppy auto-eject motor |

I watched the very excellent video on cleaning an re-lubricating floppy drives that was posted here some time back:
I managed to refurbish one superdrive and then started on a second. The second works great, except the auto-eject doesn't work at all. Nada. It doesn't even make a noise. I found a thread on stuck drive gear on the auto-eject motor:
I spun the the gear manually to make sure it wasn't stuck but still nothing.
Are these things known to just die, or is there something I should be looking at?
I can always grab another out of an 800k drive, but I am just wondering if this one can be fixed.

You mean the tiny brass gear on the motor itself won’t spin even when freed from the other gears?

Any electric motor, if seized internally, can be taken apart and cleaned and returned to use. If it is something on the little boards that burned up or something, i'd say it isn't worth going forward. If you know your gears are all ok you might be able to sell the mechanism on ebay and then keep an eye out for a replacement drive.
