PowerMac G5 Power Cord
Posted by: RC14 on 2019-10-20 12:11:43
This is likely a very dumb question, but I got a PowerMac G5 without a power cord and was wondering if I could use any power cord with it (I have a couple of generic power cords that fit).  Is there anything special about the apple power cord?

It may not have the flush fit look, but any 3prong cable should work as it's an integral and not external PSU.

Something worth noting is some later ones require a 20A cord and as such have 3 horizontal pins rather than 3 vertical pins. It's still a standard connector but somewhat less common for a home user.

Thank you both!

The G5 dual core uses that heavier plug, I had to get one from Ebay but it was cheap.

I think your looking for a “IEC C19” cable.

Its like a IEC C13, but sideways with fatter blades.
