| LC/LCII/LCIII power connector |
Posted by: cheesestraws on 2019-10-12 04:24:30 Does anyone know what the power connector on the end of the wires from the LC/LCII/LCIII PSU is actually called? There aren't any model numbers or manufacturers markings on it on either of my LC IIs. I have a pinout but no name to order new connectors...

Posted by: Scott Baret on 2019-10-12 22:46:42 Chances are good it was proprietary, albeit given to three manufacturers of the PSU. I believe Apple designed it alongside TDK, at least from what I recall of early notes on the LC. I'd say about 90% of LCs have TDK PSUs. The other 10% were made by Astec and Delta. Delta PSUs are easy to spot, as they have black switches. (They also are more reliable from my experience, as are the Astecs, but any LC PSU should be re-capped regardless as preventative maintenance).
I've worked with countless computers over the years and have yet to find any other connector which even remotely resembles the LC PSU connector.

On the other hand, since only four of the connectors are needed, perhaps two side-by-side two pin connectors would do. Either way, something readily available would be nice.

Close up photos of both plugs would help narrow it down.

Posted by: cheesestraws on 2019-11-22 10:04:07 In case anyone finds this topic, or @johnklos if you are still looking — it seems to be a slightly modified 7-pin Molex KK 396. I ended up getting a "compatible" pack of connectors off eBay as my normal electronics supplier only wanted to sell me the requisite crimps by the 7000. It seems to fit properly and give me reliable continuity, and except for the two hook things on the back of the stock connector it looks close to identical. It doesn't have the blanked-off pin, though, so it needs to be connected carefully.
