Box of surprises!

A good friend of mine since me a box of goodies - does that still count as a conquest? 😛   The contents?

Various compact flash cards to be used for my various IDE to CF projects

Newton OS 2.0 CD-ROM and a bit of documentation

An original iSight camera

2 ADB to USB adapters

An 8-inch floppy disk*

...and last but not least, a working Apple IIe Compatibility Card! The same friend gave me a cable for the malfunctioning card that I have a couple of years ago but of course, I couldn't use it until now! I'll be looking for the correct 5.25" floppy drive next. I also found out why my previous card wasn't working... I guess... one of the caps and the pad is coming off the board. Pretty sure that'll do it. Time to hire someone for some recapping.

*The 8-inch floppy is more of a comical item than something that would be used. He has a couple boxes of them, but nothing that uses them, and even though he's 3-4 years older than I am, he's never used a system that used 8-inch floppies.

Nice!

And the Apple IIe card is fixable, yeah - a cap would do that.

And was your friend grovelling for you to spare him his life as you held the balith over his head? Yes? Consider it a conquest! Go Klingons!

Damn, I remember 4 boxes of 8in media would almost go for 1/2 a grand! C\PM would be on them if there was a system for them to put on.

I snagged a 5.25" drive and now we're really in business! I can't wait to move so I can get this Mac on a proper desk.

Mine too! We had it in my 5th grade classroom and it was always a good day when we got to play it. Sadly, our IIe had a monochrome monitor so some of the keys proved to be a challenge. The teacher across the hall had a color monitor (and a Platinum IIe) and I was very jealous of how good Wheel of Fortune looked on it.

I laugh every time the little dude falls on his head and dies.  His little leg shaking.

I can't believe that I didn't even know 8" floppies were a thing....
