Posted by: LittleBigEnd1an on 2019-08-23 00:53:36
Hello everyone,

i have an Apple AudioVision 14 Monitor and i want to use but i don't have any old macintosh,

i wanted to create a VGA to HDI-45 connector to use it, but i can rarely find any info on schematics and how to do it.

Can someone help me?

These are beautiful monitors. Unfortunately, however, this monitor will not run on anything other than a Macintosh. One in the ~15+ year-old range, at that.

It will run on Macs made through around 2002, perhaps at absolute max one or two years later, but no further than that. Even on those systems, it is fixed at 640x480 at approximately 67Hz.

A direct VGA adapter would be useful on the newest of Macs to run these displays, but it won't let it work on an actually modern computer.

On, say, a Power Macintosh G4, you would use a VGA/HD15 to DB15 adapter and then the Mac/DB15 to HDI45 adapter to connect an AudioVision.

That adapter will let you use the AudioVision display on a vintage Mac. You can further adapt this adapter to VGA to use on a Mac such as the blue-and-white Power Macintosh G3 and some PowerBook G3s, whose VGA ports can handle the old fixed-sync Apple displays, but it will not let you use it on anything more modern.
