RAM required for DOS card
Posted by: LaPorta on 2019-08-13 09:36:22
Hi everyone,

I’m looking to find out what RAM is required to use onboard the 6100 DOS card. My research tells me it is quite a bit speedier with it’s own RAM. What’s the max you can add on there, by the way?

It should take the same RAM as the 6100 does. Any 72-pin FPM 70ns SIMM should work. 16MB modules definitely work, don't know if 32 or 64MB modules will.

I have one in my 640, they are very fussy as far as ram, but they will take a 32mb sim.

Thank you. Now, to source one...

I've even heard reports saying that 64mb SIMMs work. But getting a 32mb FPM is the recommended route. Plus, I don't know if that much RAM is even that useful in a 66MHz DX2 machine...

Much appreciated, all. I think that 32 is all I'd need anyway as far as being able to run simple games (Wolf 3D) and such. Just need to find some now.
