Classic side buttons

Howdy, howdy!

What do the two buttons on the left hand side of the mac classic do? I pressed one of them while the computer was on, the desktop reloaded, and now the OS isn't reading any files from the HDD (at least displaying them).

The files are still there.. If I boot from ROM into System 6, I can browse the HDD and see that the files are still intact. I'm confused.

Any info would be great, thanks!

I've found out that this invokes the system's debugger, MicroBug. I also found a document on how to use it. Still no mention of why my HDD isn't being read, maybe the volume was unmounted?

When you're facing the screen, the one closer to you is Reset, the one behind it is Interrupt.

If you install Macsbug in your System Folder, you'll get the Macsbug debugger when you press Interrupt, which is a lot more useful than the built-in debugger.

Thanks! Do you happen to know why pressing the Interrupt button caused my files to not show up in the finder? Like I said, they're there... but finder isn't displaying them. It's weird.

Try using Disk First Aid to repair your disk. You may have interrupted some file I/O.
