Mac SE with 15 pin video, found a Novy Systems card?
Posted by: snuci on 2019-07-30 08:18:37
Still looking for an Micro Xceed "in the wild" so I took a chance and bought a Mac SE with a 15 pin video port on the back.  I got it today and when I opened it up, I found a Novy Systems Inc. accelerator card with memory and I am guessing, video out.  Looks like it also has a SCSI port?  Has anyone seen anything like this?   The rust colored connector goes to a DB15 pin connector that shows out of the back of the SE.  The internal hard drive was connected to the internal SCSI port.

Edit: Thanks to Compugeke, he noticed it was Novy Systems Inc and not Navy Systems Inc. 🙂

Navy? Close enough! This one's a Novy card and that passthrough is almost certainly to allow you to hook a video card and/or other expansion into the back. To the best of my knowledge, the only card ever released that made use of it was the E-Machines Big Picture card but it's possible there's more.

Here's the same connector on the back of the GCC Hypercharger I used to own

Thanks for the correction Compugeke.  I will likely find something about this now 🙂

Nice find! Keep in mind that the Xceed is for the SE/30, and won’t work in an SE. Unless there’s some older model I don’t know about that you’re after?
