| French Oddity |
Posted by: bibilit on 2016-01-23 04:21:44 Yesterday, i collected a macintosh LC, was advised free but the picture clearly show that the Logic board had suffered from a Maxell battery destruction.
Among the goods given to me was a complete System 7 in floppy disks, the AppleColor Hi-res monitor, mouse and documentation.
More interesting, was a leaflet showing how to deal with any problem and where to order Apple goodies.

The main difference is that in France, in the 90's, Internet was not really common and we should rely on the French Minitel...hence this unusual document.

Posted by: BadGoldEagle on 2016-01-23 07:37:02 Salut Biblit 😉
I already have 4 or 5 of these in my collection. I think they started including these with the mid-Plus or SEs. My 128k/512k Picasso kit didn't include it.
It's a shame Minitel is no more. Apple probably discontinued this service long ago anyway. But it would have been funny to connect to this "server" using the Apple Djinn (another French Oddity)
I still have to find a suitable power adapter, mini din and software before I can use my Djinn...

Posted by: bibilit on 2016-01-23 08:51:44 Yes i agree Badgoldeagle, Minitel was discontinued not so long ago, can't remember really when i last used one myself... (but if you have one, the monitor can be modified to suit a Compact)
I have another of those myself, just wanted to share...
Vive la différence! 🙂 🙂
All in all, the LC has supplied a good HD (well it's a Conner...wait and see) some Ram and a spare PSU (i have replaced caps this morning) a mouse and the software/ documentation... don't know what to do with monitor though.

Minitel / Apple Djinn One day, they shall be mine. One day ...

Posted by: BadGoldEagle on 2016-09-18 07:17:28 Here's yet another French Oddity, from "Apple Utilisateur". I quite like this one.

A floppy disk used to live in there, sadly it's gone.
PS: I found something useful to do on the old Minitel

Posted by: Carboy7 on 2016-09-18 07:19:29 Is that a book? It looked like a 3D model.

Posted by: BadGoldEagle on 2016-09-18 10:13:46 yeah that's actually a leaflet.

Posted by: bibilit on 2016-09-18 10:25:34 Hi Lambert,
