| PowerMac G4 Quicksilver Wifi Upgrade and Connection? |

So, just realized how slow it would be if I connected my PowerMac G4 Quicksilver to wifi, even if I could, which I can't because last I checked my wifi doesn't have WEP, I think... I could be mistaken, but they the Airport card installed in my G4 Quicksilver doesn't support WPA security protocols.
So my thought process, if I want to use WiFi on the PowerMac G4, I need at least 802.11g Airport Extreme PCMCIA card and a wireless access point that supports WEP. Thoughts on this? Is there a better way to implement Wifi in this PowerMac G4. Doing a wired connection might not be feasible with the plan for where I intend to move this computer.

You could install a USB 2.0 card and use a USB wifi device.
If you can find a USB wifi device that has the proper drivers.
What OS are you running?
You could also use a wifi extender and connect to it via ethernet.

I believe I have USB 2.0 PCI card installed already.
Any recommended wifi extenders?

I found one that supports N and WPA at the local thrift store for $5 a couple of months ago. I use it with my Linux box out in the shop.

Well... I've gotta correct myself, the Airport PCMCIA card in my PowerMac G4 Quicksilver, does indeed support WPA, but not WPA2, so I'm not sure if the Linksys router I have has a WPA/WPA2 mode, but the Apple Airport Extreme A1143 that I picked up for $5 does, so my PowerMac G4 Quicksilver is now wireless 😀.

Those early WEP based wireless cards are kind of worthless. I have an old Linksys wireless router I turn one sometimes as a repeater (you get internet but no connection to the main network) with broadcast turned off for when I mess around with old laptops.

You can go for a PCI card as well that has one of the supported Airport chipsets. It will work just like a real Airport (Extreme) card in OSX.

Why not do the simple thing?
set up a bridge, and use it for the Quick silver, and anything else you want?
They are so cheap.
Once set up, it’s like having a external Wi-Fi card plugged in.
