| My IIci rebuild video series |
Posted by: UnaClocker on 2019-04-20 06:25:03 Hey guys, if you're like me, you feel like there's just too dang much vintage Amiga and Commodore content on YouTube, and far too little vintage Macintosh content there. So I'm posting the rebuild of my IIci there, a little at a time in a series. Here's the first one, the next one should be out soon. I've got enough content for 2 more videos, and I think I can get another out by tossing in some nice upgrades. ๐
I'll post the next video when it's up.

Video got pretty long just recapping the logic board. More to come next week.

When I wasn't using solder paste and did it that way, I had a pad lift up from the strain once.ย I learned that because of the sometimes precarious condition of the pads, after I solder the other side, I go back and touch the solder one more time on the original side so it's not pulling up on the pad from being bent over.

Hope this one is helpful for some here. ๐

Posted by: Elfen on 2019-04-29 22:08:09 I find that once you recap the board, the PSU works fine on most cases. There a are a couple of large caps inside the PSU you could recap if you like.

Posted by: olePigeon on 2019-04-30 08:16:27 Nice ATX conversion.ย I never did get mine to work with the softpower mod. :/
I lucked out and ended up being able to resurrect my original one with a recap.

Posted by: UnaClocker on 2019-05-01 17:33:30 Yeah, I spent a lot of time and a lot of money, and I fully recapped the original power supply. It's dead as a brick.ย

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2019-05-01 18:22:01 Fixing power supplies can be a pain in the rear. I am currently trying to fix an old AT era supply (300W server supply with a weird size not easy to replace).

Posted by: UnaClocker on 2019-05-07 18:09:45 hehehe, my kids had never heard a monster truck commercial. They had no idea the reference. But it was fun recording that, because my daughter was in the room (she's 11) and I'm like, hey, I have some ideas for intros, I'm going to record a couple, hang out if you want. She just about jumped through the roof when I started shouting.. ๐ ย hehehe..

Posted by: UnaClocker on 2019-10-06 14:38:19 Hmm.. I don't seem to have the ability to edit my prior posts in this thread. Was hoping to do this more seemlessly.. Anyways, I'm seperating the motorcycle side of my YouTube channel from the computers and electronics side. So since most of my subscribers have come from my motorcycle videos, the computers and electronics videos are the ones moving to a new channel. Good news is, the channel name is the same for the electronics crowd. I renamed the old channel before starting the new one. Anyways, enough babbling, here's a link to the playlist with all the above (now broken linked) videos on the new channel:
At least, I hope that goes to the playlist. Here's the new channel, I'd appreciate any new subscribers I can get:ย https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCV8J5dhAfGVtaHGs6JZddaQ
