SE/30 Very Low Volume Sound
Posted by: fsmith2003 on 2019-04-09 15:54:01
I have an SE/30 that Does have sound but the volume is incredibly low.  I have set the volume all the way up in the control panel.  I plugged in some external speakers and those too are very low volume.  Is there anything I should check first to get this issue fixed?

Try leaving it powered on for several hours, say 5–6 hours. If the sound is louder after being on for a long time, then probably the cause is old capacitors on the logic board which need to be replaced.

No need for letting it run for hours... if it still has the original caps they are bad need to be replaced.

Had the same issue.  After replacing C3 (and possibly C6), the sound is fully back.

All surface mount caps always need to be replaced.

+1 —Regardless of what some youtube/other names have said to the contrary, there's no getting around a complete recap of the logic board.
