Looking for Entrega USB PCI card drivers
Posted by: LaPorta on 2019-03-14 19:30:32
Hi everyone,

My PowerTower Pro has an Entrega 4-port USB PCI card installed (UPG-PCI-4U). I am unable to use it due to the lack of drivers, as the person who gave me the machine about 15 years ago never provided the original disks. I’d like to get it working. Does anyone have the software extensions, or know where to get them? The usual searches have turned up nothing.

It's not recognized with the standard Apple PCI USB card drivers I take it?

At least the extensions that come with 8.6 aren’t running it. The card manual states it will work with 8.1 and up. The manual also states to use the included disc to copy a number of extensions to the system folder. It’s these extensions I am presumably lacking.

Perhaps there are other Apple extensions that I don’t hav, but all the usual USB ones that come with the system are in there.

I'd give the separate "Apple USB Adapter Card Support" package a try:

If I'm not mistaken these drivers were later integrated with either 9 or 9.1.  I haven't found a USB card yet that wasn't recognized by these or the ones that OS9/9.1 installs.

Thank you, that’s likely what I need. I’ll try it tonight.

Regrettably the software doesn’t seem to run the card. Guess I need the original extensions, too

If anyone has any possible source...I’d really appreciate it.

I instead swapped in a StarTech card that I happened to have, and that won’t work either...maybe I’ve got a bad PCI slot?

What architecture is that machine, if it's 6500/TAM Gazelle, that could be your problem. Test the slot with a video card if you've got one in PCI.

It’s a PowerTower Pro w/ G3 upgade. Working video, serial, SCSI, and FW 400 cards in it.

Checked everymac, it's Tsunami, not Gazelle. Nice six slot box. Can't see why USB won't work when FW will. Move the FW card to that slot to see if it keeps working, if it doesn't it's the slot.

How are you checking if it’s working? You will likely need to install USB mass storage support as well if you’re trying to use a flash drive, for instance.
