Broken races on analog board Macintosh plus
Posted by: The MAC MANIAC! on 2019-03-02 07:52:48
I have a  Macintosh plus and I took off the paper off the analog board I saw what no computer repairman wants to see. Corrosion all along the board. Most of it was clean but some parts had a boat 2 by 2 inches of the board completely corroded. I want to know what to do to jump them. They all are pretty far apart. Some are even 2 to 3 inches. The green upper layer has fallen off and became brittle. Some I can see under it that it's corroded. What do I do to save it and also keep it from coming back! It's running about from top to bottom and mostly around the outside of the board!

Do you have a picture(s) of the corrosion? The way you describe it makes it sound like a lost cause, especially if the solder mask (green layer) is peeling away.

Here I believe this is what happened. It started on the frame and spread on to the board.

That looks somewhat nasty. I'd just buy a replacement analog board on Ebay. There are deals to be had there, every so often. BTW, with this level of damage on your analog board, I can only wonder what condition the logic board, and the monitor neck and yoke are in?...

+1 That's a Flyback/grounding clip donor for sure. The former is tending to go and the latter goes missing. The rest of the bits are worth storing it away as well.

L1 adjustable inductors are unobtainium too, until/if we work out the details of fabricating them.

I have a plan

1 New Capacitors

2 New flyback

3 New mask + Trace patches

I will try what I can to save it because I can't afford a new board.

Any other things you suggest?
