| Quadra 605 cache module in the wild? |

I'm curious if anyone has or has seen a Quadra 605 PDS L2 cache module in real life. I'm not sure how common these things are. If anyone has one or has photos of one, I'm very interested in looking at the cache chips on the module to see what speed they are to determine if the module would function on a 33MHz bus. There's long been suggestion that this module *might* work on a LC 575 board, potentially making for an interesting CC Mystic upgrade: http://colourclassicfaq.com/mobo/mystic.shtml#Q2.1.10
Edit: also, I've read anecdotes about a LC PDS cache module as well as the Micromac CPU socket solution. I'm not sure if the PDS slot module references are misunderstandings due to the the CPU socket cache module physically blocking the PDS slot or if there is/was a PDS L2 cache module. In any case, I'm interested in learning about either module.

I had to read this twice - Ive never seen/heard of L2 cache for PDS. The only L2 cache I know of was for PowerPC PDS upgrade which I have here and is currently in LC475.

I also have never heard of one. Are you sure they exist? The LC slot is not exactly a PDS slot, so I'm not sure a cache would work all that well, installed in one.

That FAQ item is referring to this:

Which are "slot free" cache cards designed to be plugged into the CPU socket, not the PDS slot. I think any suggestion that there was a PDS cache card that worked with the "LC" Quadras is the result of confusion. (Micromac's own page is all confuddled about their product; the photo is of their IIci PDS card and I think the text is in part a badly-edited copy-paste of its product page.)

I've never seen one, anybody got a pic of the interposer/interstitial board 040 Socket Cache?

I don't think that will work very well in the Q605, at least not with any sizable RAM module. The RAM SIMM kind of leans over the CPU. If one makes the CPU taller the SIMM may not fit.
