Nearby I have found someone offering a supposedly working 128k with keyboard, mouse, and maybe a few other accessories. I just picked up several other old Macs, so I'm not particularly enthused about spending more and taking up more space, but I don't want a potential gem to go to waste. As far as I can tell, the case is in mostly good condition, with the expected yellowing and a slight crack on the top right.
The person is asking $200, but I'm hoping I can talk them down a bit. Do you think this is something I should explore, even if I may not be interested enough to keep the machine, and may just end up selling it after fixing it up some?
| Posted by: BadGoldEagle on 2019-02-06 08:34:42 I would check if it‘s still a proper 128k. Someone could have upgraded the Ram to 512k or more... You never know...
| Posted by: olePigeon on 2019-02-06 10:31:32 Also, make sure it just says Macintosh on the back, and not Macintosh 128k (which is the later budget release sold along-side the 512k.)

The person is asking $200, but I'm hoping I can talk them down a bit. As long as the computer, mouse, and keyboard are all present and working, even if it's not a Mac 128K, it's still a good price. Complete Mac 512K units regularly sell for around that amount on eBay, and if your eBay photos show the machine powered on and booted up, you can fetch even more.
So if it's not the 128K unit that you were hoping to get, you can still clean it up and flip it on eBay and sell it for more than what you paid. Having attractive photos and showing the machine booted up are key to making the sale at the price you want.
