Quadra 630 and Apple IIe Card
Posted by: Byte Knight on 2019-01-20 18:01:12
Hey guys,

Has anyone gotten the Apple IIe card to work with the Quadra 630 using OS 7.5.5?  I can't get the Memory control panel to display the option to select 24-bit memory addressing.  I've read elsewhere that you can't have more than 8 megs of RAM or the Memory control panel won't give you the option, but even when I remove my 32 meg RAM chip I can't get that option to show.  Anyone else had any luck?

Thanks in advance!

The Quadra 840av and 660av were allegedly the first Quadras that abandoned 24-bit memory addressing as an option. The Quadra 630 was the last new Quadra. Seems likely that it's not possible with that new of a Mac ROM.

Vectronics specifically names the Quadra 630 as not being compatible with the Apple IIe card.

Rats...  The manual for the Quadra 630 confirms it:  "The Macintosh LC 630 and Macintosh Quadra 630 computers operate only in 32-bit addressing mode, so they do not support the Apple IIe card for the Macintosh LC."

Looks like the IIe card is going back in my LC III...
