Wow.

I mean you have to pay to list something on eBay so that rather salty sounding seller is just throwing cash away.  Kind of surprised the auction hasn't been reported yet.

Both parties are unpleasant: the one guy who shoots off a random snarky message, and the seller's insulting reply. Personally I would have ignored the message if I was the seller, but then I wouldn't have listed something like that if I wasn't trying to sell it; apparently this guy built this thing for his own amusement, then put a huge price tag on it and advertised it in the off chance somebody with money to burn and a fetish for hot-rodded Apple ][ stuff sees it. It's like those car guys who build their chromed-out Chip Foose lookalike LS-swapped '57 Chevy or whatever that they then list for $150k in every car mag around, and then when someone says, 'that's a bit much, don't you think?' the guy screams 'BUT ITS TOTALLY WORTH IT AND ITS MY CAR AND I DONT WANT TO SELL IT BUT IF I DO ILL GET WHAT I WANT!1!'. Good luck, bro, but yeah it's not likely to happen.

It's another thing to be on a forum here and post a thread about your Power Express/9700 prototype and then someone says "bro i'll give you $50 for it" and you say 'no way, if I sell it I want $5k' and the guy goes crazy and starts slinging insults. In this example you're just talking about a thing in general terms when an unsolicited low-ball offer shows up, so it's perfectly reasonable to throw out a larger number if the guy really wants it; however, the low-baller's subsequent freak-out isn't justified: it's your thing, not theirs, so you can set whatever price you want and they can either pay it if they really want the thing, or they can go elsewhere to find one that's more suited to their budget. I have plenty of stuff I would rather not sell but would for the right amount; for sure nobody would be getting a PEX for $50 (if I had one  🙁  ).

This is not an eBay seller feedback forum.
