Macintosh Classic II Rescued!
Posted by: sixsevenco on 2018-10-14 17:41:53 I finally got my Classic II up and running. It's rock solid! I plan on writing about my experiences with the hopes of helping someone else down the line, but for now, I just wanted to share my success! My next steps will be to try and get some form of networking working. I already own a USB serial adapter for my modern PC, so I imagine that I'll be using serial connection with Z-Term to handle everything. I realize it may be slow. Ethernet adapters seem to cost more than I want to pay, so that option is out. Any other suggestions on how to network? I found a website in french that apparently used a raspberry pi for networking, but I think an Ethernet adapter was still required. I also have a MIDI adapter on order, so when that arrives, I'll be connecting my Yamaha keyboard, and playing with music stuff! 🙂

I have a blog where I wrote about how to build a serial to Ethernet bridge using a serial cable, USB adapter and a Raspberry Pi. No Ethernet Card is required in the Classic Mac at all. Music Mouse is a very capable demo that needs some unlocking, but it's worth it. I actually bought a boxed copy of Music Mouse from her, license and all, and she was quite blown away that no I was not one of those ignorant Intel OS X users trying to jam classic Mac software onto it and I have the Nubus monstrosity to prove it! Very cool person! Just saying.

Any computer with USB port and Linux installed should be able to handle this. Does not have to be a Pi.
