Power Macintosh 6100 DOS and network
Posted by: Dandu on 2015-12-22 10:29:44
Hi,

I have a problem : i tru to connect a "DOS" Macintosh to the Net, and i have problem to do that.

It's a Power Macintosh 6100 under Mac OS 8.6, with Ethernet and AAUI adapter. I can connect Mac OS to the net with TCP/IP.

On the PC side, it's WIndows 95, with PC Setup 2.1.7.

I have installed the Network PC Card (NDIS2) and i have configured TCP/IP, but i can't connect to the Net. I have an IP, and that's all : i can pin the DOS part, not the rest of the network.

I have read that the Power Mac 6100 is a pain for that, because the Ethernet is "exclusive" but i can't find how to disable TCP/IP on the mac side.

Can you help me ?

Give this a shot:

-Turn on Appletalk, set it to the printer port (not ethernet)

-Open up the TCP/IP control panel on the Mac side and set it to MacIP

That should turn off TCP/IP on the MacOS side.
