| OMP glitching? |
Posted by: Retro Rider on 2018-08-12 17:10:16 I got an OMP (MessagePad 100) w/o a battery plastic thing, so I tried to use a power adapter, I used a PSone power adapter (7.5a - 2a) and the screen glitched. Was it the power adapters or something else?

I got an OMP (MessagePad 100) w/o a battery plastic thing, IIRC standard batteries(4 AAA) can be used here with a small modification.

Posted by: maceffects on 2018-08-14 07:22:05 I did hear that some people were reporting issues with capacitors on the earlier Newtons, not sure which as I have no recent experience. Just something to be aware of.

I did hear that some people were reporting issues with capacitors on the earlier Newtons... Just something to be aware of. I actually also posted this on Reddit and they said it might be the LCD ribbon cable has corrosion.

There's a switch that is depressed when the pack is installed.
It's probably detailed in the User Manual.
It also needs to have a good backup battery installed.
I cracked open the battery pack on my MP100. It looks like it could be rebuilt with new rechargeable AAA's.
I haven't gotten around to finishing the job.

There's a switch that is depressed when the pack is installed. i agree with that, but the switch can be fooled.
Can't find information anymore but IIRC a special cradle was supplied for using standard batteries , you can rebuild the battery pack with Nicd units:

I did hear that some people were reporting issues with capacitors on the earlier Newtons Actually, now that i've spoken to a friend with basically the same problem, it might be the capacitors

It also needs to have a good backup battery installed. Mine works fine w/o the backup battery
