Totally digging the site design. Very creative interface, reminds me of a Mac OS 8 "interface" someone created online (in Flash?) before I ever even owned a Mac

What I find mindboggling is early semiconductors actually lasting this long and working fine.

It is impressive how well they've held up for the most part. There are exceptions, though. For instance, the original ROM and RAM chips on Commodore PET 2001s are *notoriously bad* when it comes to failure, almost anyone who actually wants to run one of the original SRAM boards has to resort to various methods to replace them with alternate chips. (The problem is aggravated by the fact that MOS used completely different pinouts than similar chips from other manufacturers, so you can't just throw in a more reliable EPROM or RAM from someone else without significant hassle.) But examples like this mostly seem to be due to original manufacturing issues more than anything else, if they were manufactured well they just keep on ticking.
