| Welcome to Macintosh female startup sound |
Posted by: carloselvis on 2015-12-08 12:06:27 Hi everyone, when i was a young boy at the 90s I reamember to beeing at a friends house and he has a Macintosh IIcx, we used to play some games on it. Everytime he power up the mac with the classic "Welcome to Macintosh sign" it has also a sound that says the same with a female voice. Years later I bought my own Macintosh IIcx and it keeps working like a charm! But I was never able to manage how to get the same female voice. Does anyone know how to do it? Is there any special configuration or special app?
This is a videos I have found with the same voice in a mavinstoga ad:
Thanks in advance! This is a child hood memory for me and would be very nice to finally do it!
Thanks again!

Posted by: Elfen on 2015-12-08 14:45:42 I forget the file name format but you need to it to be similar to the StartUpScreen.pict file which changes the "Welcome to Macintosh" screen to something you want. I think though I could be wrong, it would be StartUpSound.snd or StartUpSound.mov .

Posted by: commodorejohn on 2015-12-08 15:30:50 The way I recall, you had to use a system extension to do a startup sound. We had one that had a dozen random quotes from old comedies...

Posted by: olePigeon on 2015-12-09 22:27:41 You could make a QuickTime movie with just the audio you want, then put it in your System Folder with the name "Startup Movie."
This requires QuickTime 1.5 or newer.
Alternatively, you could also change the startup bong to the desired sound by buying one of DougG3's custom ROMs:

Posted by: Elfen on 2015-12-10 12:28:23 I think 'Startup Movie" is the answer he is looking for. DougG3's Custom ROMs was not around in the 1990's - LOL!
It is also the answer I as trying to explain but it's been years and my information is rusty. Thanks OlePigeon!
