Mac SE/30 no sound
Posted by: TjLaZer on 2018-04-06 10:01:27
Hi,

One of my Mac SE/30's has a problem with no sound.  Not even from the phono jack in the back.   Works fine otherwise.  I did a recap thinking this would solve the issue, it does not.  I tested the speaker with a AA battery and I get some feedback so I'm sure it's fine.  A few of the caps did leak so maybe there is a dead trace causing the issue.  I will upload some pics later today.  I would really like to get this repaired and hope someone can help me fix it, even if I have to send it out to get repaired.

Did you ever figure this out? My SE/30 has been recapped, and has the same problem.

I also am having the same issue with my backup SE/30 board (no sound whatsoever except a slight crackle through the headphone port at boot). Mine had several missing pads when I got it but I think I’ve patched all of the obviously broken traces.

I had the same problem. It turned out to be that one side of one of the capacitors (next to the sound chips) was loose. After I re-soldered it, the sound worked again. It took several rounds before I discovered that it was actually loose...
