Only $4500 with the drill attachment.
Still, very cool. If it was about 1/5 the price, I'd be tempted.

Posted by: trag on 2018-03-28 13:20:58 Oh, definitely. Especially when you start shopping the "Supplies" and "Accessories" categories. But, as I wrote, if it was under $1000, I would start to be tempted -- as in, would consider buying it for at least a moment or two. At ~$5000, it's not even a consideration. I can order an awful lot of boards from Seed Studio for $5000. I'll have to exercise patience, but for a hobbiest that's no problem. I guess if you needed to do fast prototypes in house it might serve a business purpose.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2018-03-28 18:18:04 Material printing and computer controlled machining has come down so much in price over the last 30 years. I kind of wonder what will be available after I am dead. Someday you will be able to print your own microprocessors without wearing a Hasmat suite and polluting the basement where you live.

But rivets for vias on a two layer board? We don' need no steenking rivets! Etch, drill and solder a wire to both sides. But if that's automated?

Posted by: trag on 2018-03-29 13:03:12 Yeah, if you want small scale vias, it's either tiny rivets, or copper electroplating.
I looked into setting up electroplating and decided it would be like adopting another pet.
