Loose Floppy Drive Door in Apple IIc
Posted by: khannonnd on 2015-11-30 22:37:38
Hey guys -- The Apple IIc I got today has a loose floppy drive door.  In other words, it doesn't lock in either the open or closed position.  I haven't received my IIc monitor yet, so I can't actually try using it.  Am I going to have a problem with the machine reading disks if the door is loose?

Never mind, I went in there and fixed it.  The little door had slipped off its assembly, so I reconnected it and now I can open and shut the door firmly.

When I had the drive out and open I accidentally slid back the thing that I assume controls the head, but it seems like it is meant to slide back and forth so hopefully I didn't break something...

Congrats on the simple fix! That was a close call, as there are 2 plastic pins that hold the the latch to the rail and if they broke, it would have been a major job gluing the unit back to together.
