| Apple IIe Craigslist find |
Posted by: Rick Dangerous on 2018-01-31 08:02:15 I have always wanted an Apple IIe. I used them in grade school and they are just SO solid. The case design, everything. Love them. But I was not about to pay to ship one of these tanks.
I always keep an eye on CL locally, and came across this nice, clean, two-owner (one family) gem. It came with a monitor, two 5" floppy drives, a bunch of software and documentation, disk caddies, and even the original apple stickers! The joystick I had already...
I cleaned the floppy heads, wiped everything down, and it works great. I have been playing some Atari games on it myself and using some educational software with my daughter.
I think, upon opening the case, that the 1MB RAM upgrade card is in there as well, which is a nice bonus!

You'll end up spending a few hundred dollars on your Apple II. 😉

Posted by: Rick Dangerous on 2018-01-31 11:47:56 Haha...thanks. It's hard not to upgrade a beauty like this, but I think my IIgs has me covered for my high power needs.
That being said, this thing is a beauty. I think it will be chugging along for decades while other newer computers in my collection have long since died.
Edit: Scratch that! The site is amazing. A disk emulator is a must... Have one for my Atari ST and they are very handy with these old machines.

Posted by: olePigeon on 2018-01-31 13:58:09 Also, check out the FastChip //e. 16MHz Apple II. Faster than a Transwarped IIGS. 😀
He also has a really nice Mockingboard clone. Unfortunately his stuff is often out of stock. He can't make it fast enough.

Unfortunately his stuff is often out of stock. He can't make it fast enough. I wish he took preorders/reservations. I still want one of his IIc memory/clock boards but they've been out of stock every time I've checked since I stopped being on the fence about it.

Posted by: Rick Dangerous on 2018-02-01 05:59:58 It looks like his VGA scaler is specific to the IIc. Is there anyone that makes one for the IIe or would that one work?
What would you do to this IIe that is necessary you think to get it running in top form? The processor, more RAM possible/needed, VGA Scaler, Disk Emulator, anything else?
This computer is a keeper for me so i'm not afraid to put in the time/money over the next few years.
Thanks!
