On searching,  I see that originally it cost 4000 Francs, which, roughly speaking, translates as <<les yeux de la tête>>. Mind you, I was noticing last night, perusing some old Mac User magazines, that even getting your hand on one of the clones of the 96-97 era could require that you part with $4000+, which, roughly speaking, translates much the same way. | |

A time when modems could not even reach 2400 bauds …The time of the Apple Djinn. The Djinn likely got onto the internet easily? It was doing just fine at 1200Bd on the Migent Pocket Modem included with my Compuserve Business Pack. The WWW re-incarnation and release of the web for commercial use was still a few kBd into the future. Minitel is a fascinating subject, do you gents know of a parallel timeline for its history vs. Internet/WWW developments? | |

Do you happen to have the original power adapter? Mine didn't come with one and I have absolutely no idea what kind of voltage it's supposed to output, or if its power plug is center positive or negative... IIRC, the Pro came with a PSU while the original one didn't. I guess 5V from the ADB port was enough for the first iteration... I asked someone at France Telecom and apparently you can't use it anymore on their network (even with an old pots line). But, approximately three years ago, I started a thread on Apple Communities (way back when I had no idea the 68kmla existed), and apparently there's a work around. Long story cut short, it requires a specific Airport base station. And FYI, at some point in that thread I was rambling about the seller stabbing me in the back and deciding to sell the thing to someone else... but the other buyer backed out and I got the Djinn in the end. Yay for me! It's sitting partly disassembled in a cubberd somewhere. I really need to get back to it. Now that my good old pal has one as well, I've got no excuse not to at least try to get it working. | |

Maybe Dandu will be able to make it work... | |
