SimCity 2000 on Monochrome?
Posted by: Scott Baret on 2015-11-21 10:22:54
I know 256 colors is the requirement for SimCity 2000...but are there any ways to trick the program to run on a black and white machine? I'm using it with a few students and would like to be able to take something other than a big color computer to work with them!!

I'm sure you can edit it somehow, you would just have to either change the value the check uses, or go lower, and just NOP the check out completely. Depends on how good you are.

But you still may run into trouble. If it requires certain Quickdraw calls that are only found in Color Quickdraw, etc... the game will never run in a usable state.

If he has an SE/30, it'll have Color Quickdraw even if it doesn't have color.

I've got both an SE/30 and a Classic II, so we should be set to try it!!
