| How hot do 1.33ghz DP CPUs run? |
Posted by: Unknown_K on 2014-01-25 17:18:47 I found a heatsink for my 1.33Ghz MDD DP CPU (a little corrosion on it) and was wondering what temp these are supposed to run at. After running X-bench and letting it idle a while the temp got to 51C which seems a bit high to me.
Anybody else have one of these? Seems like a decent speed upgrade (has 2MB cache) from a 1.00ghz DP.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2014-01-26 00:28:03 Yup. Went to middle 50's when I let it run a while. Would a replacement fan (more efficient) be worth looking into, if so what type?
Also is the Xbench 1.3 database offline?

Posted by: waynestewart on 2014-01-26 06:54:14 I have a dual 1.33 with the thin finned heat sink. Seems to idle at 51-52C. If I run CHUD nap mode then the temp drops 10C.
Strangely, my 1.42 overclocked to 1.5 with the copper heat sink cools down to the same temp after a workout.

Also is the Xbench 1.3 database offline? Unless overclocking I wouldn't bother. If you are keen however (note I've not looked at an MDD for a while - assuming it is that), see how much clearance is between the heatsink and power supply. Go for the biggest, slowest fan you can find that will fit - any 12V one will do, and it could be attached by various means - automotive double sided tape, self-tapping screws, etc.
The last version of GeekBench (v2) is still PPC
