I have an Imagewriter I that I am trying to test drive. It came with a IIc, so the cable provided won't work. The only cable I have on hand looks like the eBay link below. But were I get confused is that there seem to be two cables that look the same but serve a different purpose, other being for a modem. The one I have is written on one end in pencil with the word modem. So I assume its what is says it is. So this cable is then a no-go for printing?
I did set the dip switches for Mac printing, select light is on. Printer brings up dialog print box under System 7.0.1. When I print, the computer hangs for a while then carries on like nothing happened. Well, nothing does happen!

Did you pick the ImageWriter in the Chooser, with the right port? If you don't select a printer in Chooser, nothing will print. Yup. Tried both ports too, printer and modem. Thats why I think it might have something to do with the cable but would like to be sure. I have not printed in System 7 in a long time, but I would also expect some sort of error. I don't want to rule out the possibility that the printer is messed up. Tomorrow I will fire up the Iic just to be sure though.
| Posted by: unity on 2014-01-14 19:34:57 Printer works like a happy hamster with the IIc. So I am pretty sure its a cable issue with the Mac. I am going to order a different one after this weekend. I am picking up some misc Mac stuff and if I am lucky there will be a cable.
