Best way to paint Apple II case?
Posted by: olePigeon on 2013-12-11 10:03:10
I recently acquired an unenhanced Apple IIe. It has the painted plastic versus the colored plastic. The paint has chipped off in a few places, and in one place it looks like the previous owner attempted to clean something off of it and took the paint with it. Physically it's in excellent shape, not scrapes, cracks, or anything. Just needs a fresh coat.

Should I strip the old paint first? Prime, then paint? What type of paint should I use?

Awesome, thanks. What about prepping it to paint? Think it'd be OK to just paint over the old paint? Or should I use the paint that has the primer mixed in?

if we go by the way cars are painted, you might want to strip the whole thing before you start. otherwise the peeling original paint would just ruin the new paint job. I don't think the cases were primered.

Time to buy some break fluid.

apply standard caution. some plastic don't react well to certain solvents.
