| WeirdStuff Conquest: Jaz 2GB, Full Height ZFP case |
Posted by: olePigeon on 2013-10-06 11:48:46 WeirdStuff had a brand new in box Jaz 2GB drive (SCSI) and a brand new Full Height ZFP SCSI case for $15. 🙂 Just needs one of those giant full heigh HDD face plates. I wonder if I can find a beige one, most of the time they're black.
I have to wonder, though, is it really zero foot print if it's two stories tall? 😱)

Can that ZFP case house a regular 1/2 or 1/3 height disk?

I have to wonder, though, is it really zero foot print if it's two stories tall? You betcha. If you can't find appropriate blank bezels, I have a two story closed face ZFP box to swap for yours so I can do a removable media drive installation. 😉

Posted by: LCGuy on 2013-10-06 17:16:11 Ahh, WeirdStuff. I'm looking at taking a trip to the US Real Soon Nowâ„¢, and intend to swing by the Valley, and while I'm at it, stop by WeirdStuff to do some shopping. Guess I should start thinking about booking the shipping container now...

Posted by: olePigeon on 2013-10-07 08:27:39 There was also a brand new Jaz 1GB drive there. If anyone is interested, I can pick it up for them. I think it was $10.

Posted by: CelGen on 2013-10-07 17:54:41 I drove two and a half days one-way to go there. It was worth every penny.

Posted by: olePigeon on 2013-10-09 12:10:31 Tadaaa! I found a sort of beige colored Seagate FHD face plate at Weird Stuff. A little scratched up, but not too shabby. 🙂 I fired it up and it works great. Hasn't been turned on since November 1992. 😎

you should buy like 5 of those 2.5" ibm eServer drives and make like a bad to the bone scsi raid. 🙂
i wonder what mac was the first to support software raid?

Great job on the faceplate! I like the two tone look.
How many MB of GB is in there?
It's amazing how far technology has progressed.

you should buy like 5 of those 2.5" ibm eServer drives and make like a bad to the bone scsi raid. I've tried this before with a mismatched set on an AHA-2940UW. Almost 15 drives.
It requires a stupid amount of power and you have to sequence the spinup or you can overload a 15A circuit. It was almost impossible to cable them all together and required some serious praying to the SCSI gods to make it behave.
