| How to clean my Mac puck/mouse |

Hello.
I have a beautifully refurbished Graphite iBook. It came with an Apple puck mouse.
However, the rubber on the mouse is rather sticky and the roller ball is not smooth.
Any advice on how to clean this so that the puck/mouse surface is smooth and therefore usable?
Much appreciated.

The sticky is the "soft touch" coating deteriorating. You can clean it off with isopropyl alcohol but it will leave the rubber surfaces shiny instead of matte.

You may notice the two screws that hold it together under the colored parts. If you carefully pry these off, and remove the screws; the dust bunnies can be wisked out.

Blargh, I can't imagine actually wanting to use one of those mice. Probably one of the most uncomfortable peripherals I've ever used.

I agree that the puck mouse is horrid to use but this is a vanity purchase as the iBook just look so cool. I think the iBook was not popular at schools or unis as there is no VGA outlet so students could not present their work. Unless there was a shared screen or USB workaround.

My 'workaround ' today was to run Apple Remote Desktop from my iMac and 'Observe' the iBook. Bit slow but can view iBook's screen. Nice!
