SPECIAL! 2 Port USB2 PCI Card for the Mac!
Make your older Mac USB 2 compatible! Get an iPod and your older G3 or G4 only has USB 1.1? This adds high speed USB2 under OSX! Leave it to Headgap to bring you USB 2.0 OSX tested card at an BARGAIN PRICE! These are also tested iPod compatible and feature the superior NEC chipset. Add 2 External USB 2.0 compatible ports to your PCI based Power Mac! USB 2.0 standards are only supported in OSX, but these cards work fine in OS8.6-9.2 in USB1.1 mode. These work with your existing USB items plus they support the NEW US 2.0 high speed devices (assuming they are Mac compatible)! Comes with Free Kitchen Sink CD for OS9 drivers, X works straight up, As with ALL USB2 cards sleep mode in 9 keeps machine from going to sleep, but works perfectly for most in X (simply disable sleep mode if not). Our special low price $12.77 includes shipping. Works in Beige G3 with the later $77D.45F1 ROMS or better systems. Terrific upgrade for your BWG3, & G4 systems. These DO NOT WORK in the older PowerMac 7200-9600 units, use the USB 1.1 cards. See the USB Card section of the store. 5 Port Cards also in stock! I was surprised to see that USB-2 can run under OS9 at all, that's not what I've heard here. At any rate, I figured the extra price over what looks like a handy CD was worth the investment in both, even if it doesn't work. I don't use sleep. The package came in OWC packaging and it was made by Belkin, so I have a good feeling about this . . .
< scurries off to play for a bit [}🙂] ]'> >
. . . I've got the card up and running with a wireless USB KBD/Mouse combo using the USB Card Support 1.4.1 driver on the OS9 Kitchen Sink 22013 CD so all is peachy cream so far. [😀] ]'>
What's a good way to check if this thing is doing USB-2 besides testing transfer times against a USB-1 card?
What's the fastest accelerator available for the ZIF setup? G4s available?
I guess I'm setting BorgMacG3â„¢ as my main machine for now, the Pismo is a bunch newer, but it can't use the stack of drives from the Powerless QS'02, which got transferred over from the DOA-DA which is really what I mean by my main machine. The CPU's really irrelevant to me, it's the data/storage capacity that makes a main machine as far as I'm concerned. I uigure if I can get USB-2 up and running on the card in this no longer "beige" box, it'll be great in the G4s once I get one of them up and running again.
Any tips on setting up and using the Beige Boxen? My Desktop has the same board as the MiniTower, correct?
| Posted by: Byrd on 2013-09-23 17:47:05 As the ad mentions - with supplied drivers it'll work at USB 1.1 speeds under OS 8.6 - 9.2 ... sadly no USB 2.0 speeds, which would be nice.
| Posted by: Anonymous Freak on 2013-09-23 17:56:58 Yeah, sorry, no 480 Mb/s in OS 9...
USB 2.0 standards are only supported in OSX, but these cards work fine in OS8.6-9.2 in USB1.1 mode. Only 11 Mb/s in OS 9.

. . . but one can hope! :🙂
| Posted by: CC_333 on 2013-09-23 22:03:41 Why doesn't somebody write an OS 9 USB 2.0 driver?
With the proper knowledge and experience, it should be relatively trivial.

Orange micro is supposedly doing a feasability study for OS 9 USB2 drivers I'm guessing they felt that it was not feasible.

Be that as it may . . . I swapped the Radius S3 card I had in there out and put an ATI card or other with a daughtercard on board into the BorgMacG3. It's happily pushing 1080p@60HZ down the wires to the 22" display at the moment and 1600x1200 will work on the 20" Dell.
