| Value of a Newer Technology NU167 PowerPC Upgrade For PB 540 |
Posted by: Paralel on 2013-09-11 22:12:09 I found one of these in a system I purchased, a Newer Technology NU167 PowerPC Upgrade for the Powerbook 500 series. It is tested and working.
Anyone know what it is worth?

Posted by: Paralel on 2013-09-11 23:01:21 Unfortunately, I am going to need to sell it for cash, I'm pretty far in the hole at the moment.

Posted by: uniserver on 2013-09-12 01:16:18 i guess there is only one that is better then yours little more speed and cpu cache.
they seem to be slightly rare.
I can't really find anything that would give me an idea of real world worth.
I suppose if you made a 10 day ebay ad, Then got on all the Forums, Apple fritter, Lem Swap, etc etc Made a decent post talking about it, and how rare it is (the same day you created the ad) so it can stew for a little time. Maybe get the word out a little.
took some nice pictures of it ... and it in operation.
Other then that you might spend the cash to make an ad, only for it to not even sell for 99 cents, because nobody is looking for it.

Posted by: techknight on 2013-09-20 18:46:00 I got one of those accelerators as well, but its 117mhz. It seems unstable. crashes, reports random crash errors, and sometimes reports the wrong speed until the chip gets nice and hot. Once the processor card warms up, its fine.
swap in the 040, all probs gone.

Posted by: Bunsen on 2013-09-23 03:31:23 Try redoing the heatsink paste, and running 7.6.1 or 7.1 instead of any of the other versions of 7.x.x if possible.

Posted by: Paralel on 2013-09-23 05:28:22 I ran a full suite of tests on it, and it is rock solid.
