| External CDROM and Powerbook 180, no go |
Posted by: Brooklyn on 2013-06-08 17:21:30 I have a nice powerbook 180, I would going to try to do the resedit hack and install OS 8.1. However, whenever I plug a SCSI CDROM into the computer it won't boot, just hangs. When I unplug it boots just fine. Tried messing with SCSI ID numbers on the back of the CDROM but no go. I have an external HD that works just fine with the powerbook
Any idea whats going on here? I think it some sort of SCSI conflict but I figured changing the ID of the CDROM would fix that.

Is the CD-ROM terminated?
I don't know about the 180, but the PB100 docs required an additional pass thru terminator on the end of the PB SCSI cables for additional termination.

SCSI ID of the internal hard drive is by default 0, I would be surprised if anyone would have changed it in the powerbook.
