| GONE!?! NO! download.info.apple.com |
Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-06-06 21:14:18 http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates is GONE! What to do? |
Posted by: uniserver on 2013-06-06 21:15:38 interesting 😛
|
Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-06-06 21:19:04 It's in transition - Sometimes I seem to be getting a directory listing. Sometimes not. It's flatlining guys. 🙁
|
Posted by: markyb86 on 2013-06-06 23:09:36 crap. That's funny that I literally just posted a big list of updates and drivers I found to my website just last week.....
|
Posted by: LCGuy on 2013-06-07 20:09:49 I can still get a directory listing of http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English-North_American/Macintosh/ and http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English-North_American/Apple_II, but no higher directories.

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-06-07 20:50:46 Refreshing a few times seems to get a server that hasn't been "updated" yet.
|
Posted by: uniserver on 2013-06-08 02:22:41 I wonder how much traffic that got?
Maybe apple will give permission to freely distribute that software, then maybe you can host it on applefool?

Posted by: volvo242gt on 2013-06-08 02:28:50 Isn't most of the stuff from the old info.apple.com site posted here, tho?

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-06-08 17:42:23 Right but the linked items are what's starting to come up 404.
|
Posted by: CelGen on 2013-06-08 23:15:10 It's really hit and miss on me.
I can 404 on the first click but an F5 will bring it up eventually.
|
Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-06-09 00:49:11 Which leads me to believe they are removing them from the server pool onesy-twosy.

Posted by: volvo242gt on 2013-06-09 01:00:43 Joy... Guess I'd better make some backup copies of the Service Source Compilation CD that I have... That way, I don't wear out the original disc...

Posted by: CelGen on 2013-06-11 15:39:03 Dump everything onto a 72gb drive in an ANS and connect through appleshare.
I'm pretty sure someone has already imaged the entire site.
|
Posted by: protocol7 on 2013-06-11 18:46:25 I don't think it's just this area of apple.com. I tried downloading the current Snow Leopard security update a couple of days ago and got a 404. Tried the link a second time and it kicked in.
But either way, backup this stuff if you can. Can't assume it'll be online forever.

Posted by: mcdermd on 2013-06-12 09:32:48 I grabbed the English-International, English_North_American and MultiCountry directories.
