So far I have personally used all these different caps in re-capping main-boards,
They have all given the same initial results.
Anyone have any general commentary they want to add feel free.
I have found the Ceramics are the easiest to install. 😎

Posted by: James1095 on 2013-05-24 15:14:13 I would avoid the use of any through-hole caps in SMT applications. The through-hole parts lack a base to distribute mechanical force applied to the capacitor, which can easily tear SMT pads off the board. Other than that, I'm a fan of ceramic and tantalum chip capacitors, both work very well. The organic polymer caps are a good choice for cost-is-no-object restorations where you want to maintain an original appearance.

Plus, Ceramic caps come in different colors, including white, which you could then dye to make any color you like. Tantalum are sometimes black instead of yellow.

Posted by: Brett B. on 2013-05-29 10:24:41 I knew I should have ordered a whole bunch of those AVX tantalums a while back. Currently out of stock with a 10 week delivery date. xx(
Guess I'll be waiting to do a couple recap jobs, no big deal, have a few monitors and other misc electronics to fix in the meantime.

There was thousands available when I posted that link.
This is the first time I have seen those caps out of stock.
