Apple II Plus and lots of other loot
Posted by: jdmoser on 2013-05-16 16:50:05
Today I picked all this stuff up for $200. Upon going through it I feel like there's way more than $200 worth here. Definitely keeping all of it for life!

Very nice! The Apple II is in amazing shape! Is it fully fictional?

Posted by: jdmoser on 2013-05-16 19:55:16
Yep! The computer works amazingly, as do the Disk ][ drives!

Congratulations, that's quite the conquest.

Fantastic conquest! Do the disks all work? When the ][+ board was made?

All the ones I've tried work great. I think it would take me months to test the rest, there's soooo much! Everything is in amazing shape though.

When the ][+ board was made?
The board says Apple 1979 🙂

Sweet! Nice and early! Green slots?

Posted by: Cosmo on 2013-05-17 04:30:23
Look for the code from the motherboard, it's placed in the left corner next to power supply (when you look the machine from the keyboard direction).

If the board says © 1979 it might be rev.7 RFI model. Take an picture?

Look also the serial number from the unit's bottom, it gives an reference and could see if the motherboard was ever replaced etc.

Black, it appears!

Is this it? http://i.imgur.com/4aZ6jEu.jpg

The model number on the back is marked as A2S1048

$200? Yeh, that was a sweet deal.

>Black, it appears!

Sounds like Revision 7 or RFI board.

>Is this it? http://i.imgur.com/4aZ6jEu.jpg

No, but that shows that it's RFI - board style.

The serial is in the corner, stamped or handwritten like this (the white area in the left upper corner):

This is an Revision 0 board (1977) original Apple ][ (non +)

>The model number on the back is marked as A2S1048

You're looking at the memory ammount, it's crossed on the label isn't it?

It should read Serial No : A2S2-xxxxx or so.

Ahh, I see... it reads 8131D, and the serial on the back is A2S2-254412

...by the way, I have an Apple ][ and that same left corner in the little white area is blank. No number or any writing.

So it's from week 31 of year 1981.

Can you take a picture of the another machine you mentioned, would be interesting to see the motherboard (if you can, whole board on picture).

Sure! I've made a small album here: http://imgur.com/a/Srbnm

If you could somehow identify my Apple II that would be awesome... I see nothing on it that tells me anything about it except "© 1978" ...there's no serial number or any other information on the back, and that white area on the top left of the board is empty.

The dark green slots and "Apple Computer Inc. 1978" in the middle, tells me it's revision 4 board. If you look closely there might be text "REV 4" under one slot in the middle (closer to CPU) or under the CPU if you lift it.

I have the same revision board on my Apple II+ (8011) -> http://68kmla.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=20388&start=25#p199691

If my memory serves me any good, it's about 1980-1981 production cycle.

What codes the ROM chips have? (the bigger chips in the middle of the board).

341-0001-00 II+ Integer BASIC E0

341-0002-00 II+ Integer BASIC E8

341-0003-00 II+ Integer BASIC F0

341-0004-00 II+ Integer BASIC F8 (Old Monitor ROM)

341-0011-D0 II+ Applesoft BASIC D0

341-0012-D8 II+ Applesoft BASIC D8

341-0013-E0 II+ Applesoft BASIC E0

341-0014-E8 II+ Applesoft BASIC E8

341-0015-F0 II+ Applesoft BASIC F0

They're definitely these ones:

341-0020-00 (F8)

341-0015-00 (F0)

341-0014-E8 (E8)

341-0013-00 (E0)

341-0012-00 (D8)

341-0011-D0 (D0)

I've had to reorder 341-0020 and 341-0011 off eBay since the first has a broken pin and the second is faulty.
