thanks man.

will 800k disks format as 400k ?

-edit

i just had to find a good 800k floppy, looks like yes, they will format as 400k disks.

Also i just found out my External Floppy port, with my 512ke is bad.

internal floppy works fine.

Maybe its that pesky borns filter.

The 128K ----> Plus thing i have was able to run the 400k external properly, eject, format, read, write.

my Mac SE FDHD would run the drive but not eject the disk for some reason.

I've just been through the Bourns filter problem on my 512Ke.

Fortunately, it is easy to test the filters without removing. With power off, just put a multimeter across each of the inner 8 pairs of pins, in the 200k resistance range. If it fluctuates up and down (filling the cap) then settles at around 50R on each cell, each RC network is OK.

New filters seem to be about $3-8 each, depending on supplier.

The FDD pinouts are also very picky and worth checking for each model that you plan to attach. Watch out for -12v on pin5/9 and whether your device uses that or should be isolated from it. I blew a filter finding that out the hard way.

That's a steal at $25! Nice score.

Thanks Rick for the info. I just changed the filter in my 512ke and Jason's SE , using the filters from CC_333's dead SE/30 board he sent me.

Man that parts se/30 board he sent me has helped me alot, I have that FPU in my LC520, I used a ram pair to replace a bad pair from another se/30.

i just used a fuse from it to fix another se/30's bad ADB ports. Parts boards are great to have around!

uniserver: I'm glad my board has been helpful!

I have an idea I'd like to discuss with you via PM regarding swapping components from board to board.

The low price and the title definitely says they didn't know what they had, or else the title would have been:

***MUST SEE APPLE STEVE JOBS VINTAGE LIKE NEW OWN AN ORIGINAL 128K MACINTOSH ONE-OF-A-KIND LIMITED EDITION NO RESERVE*****

...and it would have been $150 bucks.
