Newton 110

Posted by: bibilit on 2013-04-24 12:32:52 Just collected this evening a complete Newton 110. Came boxed and with all goodies including Psu and video tape, even a set of stickers and 3 Sram Cards 🙂 My first Newton, not perfect but working fine and free

Posted by: bibilit on 2013-04-25 00:08:52 Hi, Anyone knows if those Sram card need a battery to work ? all of them are nor recognised when inserted, but all batteries are flat.

I just need to 2000 and the 2100 and I'm done, but they're always so expensive! I do have to replace/fix my 110 though. It's missing all the screws on the back for some reason.

Posted by: beachycove on 2013-04-25 14:23:45 NewtOS2.1 is much more "complete," and oh how I wish it were still being developed — but the early Newtons and the first Newton OS do have a certain charm about them. I have a 110 here in the collection, and could easily see using it as an organizer etc. were it not for the fact that I have a 2100 in daily use. I have occasionally been tempted to revert to the 110, however, since the 110 is smaller and simpler. I also find NewtOS v.1 handwriting recognition engine (for printed characters) to be pretty darned accurate, and fast enough to be perfectly usable. Cursive handwriting, though? Forget about it.
