LC-PDS "passthrough" adapter
Posted by: Brett B. on 2013-04-16 19:22:56
I did a bit of searching tonight and couldn't find anything specifically related to this idea...but... does the hardware inside a pizza box/LC5xx/etc support multiple LC-PDS cards, or is it simply limited to one card?

Here's my idea - I have an Apple IIe card in my LCIII. Neat, sure, but I have no ethernet. I don't have a SCSI->ethernet adapter nor do I want to buy one, BUT, I do have a stack of LC-PDS ethernet cards.

Could a guy build a custom pass through adapter with some ribbon cables and a male PDS connector? Possibly solder the ribbon cable(s) directly onto the logic board or whatever is in the PDS slot?

Just thinking here, I think a guy could strip down an ethernet card, relocate the RJ45 connector so it comes out the bottom or side of the Pizza Box case. Would be pretty tight, for sure, but not having built in ethernet is a bummer at times!

The subject has been brought up very recently, the discussion continues through the next page. 😉
