Lombard as a MacOS 9-only box
Posted by: jruschme on 2013-03-30 12:39:33 Recently, I got it into my head to install NetBSD on my Lombard as it wasn't really doing much of anything else. This has turned out to be more hassle than it is worth, mostly due to the Rage Pro graphics. I'm now considering taking my Pismo which is my main Mac OS 9 system and making it the NetBSD system with the Lombard being dedicicated to Mac OS 9. Now for my question- What do you all think of this plan and, more to the point, how much do I stand to lose going from the Pismo to the Lombard? Obviously, there is the loss of speed (333 vs 500 mhz) and the faster bus, but will I miss much on the graphics front? What software really takes advantage of that extra graphics and processing power? Thanks...
