How do I see hidden files in Class Mac OS?(I know you can from Linux)

ResEdit, I think. You'd get Info on the file, then toggle the Visibility tag.

ResEdit always works, and BuscaInvisibles is also a great freeware utility for seeing invisible files (and making them permanently visible if needed).

what about for content on say a CD where they ahve been hidden and the volume is locked?

all the CD's to Pegasus Prime are like this but under say Irix you can clearly see piles of quicktime videos.

The solution is quite plainly to use IRIX then.

Hey! This is UNIX! I know this!

But all it's doing is toggling the "hidden" flag on a locked volume. Any OS that supports HFS aside from MacOS can do that without any modifications.

You could use Disk Copy to make a R/W disk image of the CD, then you can batch toggle the files.

I think he's wanting something more like an extension which displays them all the time (at least when the extension's loaded).

DiskTop worked well for this. Track down a copy of Mac Secrets, 2nd Edition; the DA came with the book.

Gregs Browser works well here with all the invisible files as well. http://kaleidoscope.net/greg/browser.html

Hmm.. for someo reason I did not get any emails when people replayed to my question. I'll have to check some of those out. Oh I have Linux already but I wanted to figure out way of seeing hidden files from in the Mac OS.
