Havn't realy seen much in the way of good Nubus cards untill a few days ago when Austingoodwillcomputerworks had all kinds of ATTO Silicon Express Nubus cards on ebay. I snagged 3 SE II's for my old Mac IIs cheaply (a little over $20 shipped) but the SEIVs went for $20 or more a pop (too rich for me).
Anybody here bid on them and win/lose?
Kind of makes me wonder where they got them from, did they gut old loaded machines and junk the rest?

If they came out of anything good, and they still have it, well, I'm in Austin. Kind of busy right now, but I could probably make a trip to the Goodwill Computer Works.
However, my experience in getting them to do anything other than whatever they've already planned with old Mac stuff has been that they are completely unwilling. That may have changed... I gave up on them years ago.

I just hope a collector didn't kick the bucket and have all his stuff sent to goodwill.
Anyway they all sold so the stuff isn't going to a landfill or get ground up.
Seems like top end Nubus cards (video and scsi) sell well.

I gave up on them years ago. Goodwill is just being like any other company and sticking to policy. If they kept tabs on everything that people were looking for and wrote them on post-it notes, their monitors would be palstered in notes, quite a few people might not return after being set aside and you run into people trying to fight for the same stuff.
Value Village tried this briefly and their stores started piling up with on-hold junk.
It wastes their time and storage space which costs them money. It's much easier for them to be black and white on the situation, even if we don't like it.

Okay, so having followed the link to the Austin Goodwilll seller, I bought an Intel C2D 8400 because I have a use for one. After paying I emailed them asking whether they get much in the way of compact Macs any more (provided list of models) and told them that if they do, I can find homes for them, there's no need to recycle them.
Their response was:

I would be very interested in any SE/30s or other "compact" Macs if you get them. I know I could find homes for them, rather than sending them to
recycling. That would include the Macintosh 512, Plus, SE, SE/30, Classic,
Color Classic, and Color Classic II.
Of course, if you just don't get
these any more, than it's irrelevant, but if you do get them, I'd like you
to know that there's a demand for them and no reason to send them to
recylcing. Even the non-working ones are of interest.

They packed the cards very well (came in today), have to see if they work this weekend. I don't remember but are the Silicon Express II's bootable?
