| G3 B&W not booting |
Posted by: tattar8 on 2013-03-23 13:42:33 As far as I can tell, it's a stock G3, but its not booting. I get a chime on powerup, and that's it. No video, no HD activity, No CD-ROM activity if I stick in an OSX 10.2 disc. Haven't really played around with it yet, what might be the case?

Posted by: Macdrone on 2013-03-23 14:52:10 The G3's had the jumper block for the processor. It was blue under a label, is it still there? label missing? it may be overclocked, also processor may have been messed with. That would go with reseating things. Sorry as I get ahead of myself. I check for this stuff when it is in front of me I forget everything I check sometimes.

Posted by: tattar8 on 2013-03-23 15:39:06 Thanks for all the suggestions. I tried to give it one last go before ordering a new battery, and found that it booted if used a different stick of RAM from the one I had left in there. Turns out that was preventing it from booting. The Mac then happily booted into OS 8.5.1.

Posted by: Macdrone on 2013-03-23 16:50:42 Yep that will happen. Sometimes people would grab ram out of a PC and sometimes it will work sometimes not. My cube wont take PC100 marked stuff for 512mb sticks. It just says no way. I have to put in PC133. Just strange, maybe its time for caps in it also.

Posted by: yntzl on 2013-04-19 08:45:11 I have the same problem, the PRAM battery is new, all the case and components are clean, every module of RAM was tested and I've reseted the PRAM/CUDA a hundred times, but the problem persists. Any ideias how to fix this? xx(
