Potential Conquest: IIGS
Posted by: Scott Baret on 2013-03-23 09:58:36
Apparently I've got dibs on a IIGS in Pittsburgh. Hopefully will be able to pick it up when I'm home next week.

Has a monitor (not sure if it's RGB or Composite), 3.5" drive, 5.25" drive, keyboard, mouse, tons of software, and an ImageWriter II. Don't know much else about the specs, but I did get a photo e-mailed to me. The lady who has it will hold it for me as long as I'm interested.

The price? Free!!!

Free + gas is always a great price. Congratz.

Fantastic find! Complete IIgs is great machine, let's hope for some extra cards 🙂

Out of a basket I got a 1.5 meg third part memory card to replace my (not fully populated apple card) and its very nice. I am going to have and try all the neat things I have seen done with these II's around here.

OK--I think I may pick it up on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I'm also considering using the 20SC I got from last week's conquest with it!

Will that work?

I saw an Apple ad from 1990-ish with a 20SC hooked up to a IIGS. Never have seen one in the wild so I'm interested to give it a try! Anyone know if there are any specific termination rules for the IIGS?

Oh yeah--I also have to make sure there's a SCSI card in that GS. Otherwise, hopefully someone here can help me out!!!

SCSI cards for the II GS are rather spendy. You can netboot them and run apps over Localtalk from from an Appleshare File Server, though.
