Nice. Though I think you meant to say Centris 650 according to how it's labeled on the box. 😛

You are correct, I meant Centris, not Quadra.

The first thing I did was pop out the battery, it was a red Maxwell  :O (no signs of corrosion thankfully).

Not a collection item for me though, have a practical for it, building a console to run some Virtual World Entertainment 3.0 pods (cockpit simulators that run Battletech and Red Planet).

I do have one question though, at what point should I have the caps replaced on these old Macs?  Where there are signs of issues or should I just do it as a preventative measure?

The Centris 650 logic board has tantalum caps...so no need to worry about those. 🙂

You should probably still check out the PSU though, as those use electrolytics pretty much universally.
